LSU secures a massive in-state win as the Tigers lure the 6-foot-3 Bossier City standout to Baton Rouge, bolstering an increasingly impressive 2027 recruiting class.
The LSU Tigers landed an important in-state commitment by flipping a three-star wide receiver from his intentions to join the Houston Cougars.
The Tigers have been on a recruiting tear as of late and their most recent win comes with flipping 2027 3-star wideout Gary Burney Jr. from Houston, convincing him to star in Louisiana for his collegiate future.
For more on what the Tigers did to lure the Cougars commit to Baton Rouge, here is more from LSU Roundtable writer Dylan Sanders breaks down how pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach George MacDonald secured the flip.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound wide receiver is from Parkway High School, located in Bossier City, La. He is now the next win for LSU head coach Lane Kiffin and his recruiting team.
The Tigers built a powerhouse No. 1 overall class in 2026, per 24/7 Sports.
The program did so by securing the No. 11 recruiting class and the No. 1 transfer class this year.
As the incoming 2027 group comes together, the Tigers may end up with another top ranking, but with the impact coming from their recruits rather than transfer additions.
Though, with the success of the 2027 recruiting class already piling up, expect the Tigers to remain active in the transfer portal as they look to build upon their already impressive success.
Burney will be the third position-designated wide receiver of the 2027 class, bringing more size and explosive speed to MacDonald's room. The 25-year coaching veteran won't have a hard time getting the most out of Burney as he joins the fold in just over a year.
