Four-star edge rusher K.J. Green chose LSU over Georgia, Oregon and South Carolina, giving Lane Kiffin a blue-chip pass rusher.

The LSU Tigers got some great recruiting news just days after losing a top 40 pass rusher, as four-star edge rusher K.J. Green committed to the Tigers for their 2027 class. His commitment comes just days after an official visit to Baton Rouge, La., and it comes right after they lost Jaiden Bryant in a flip to the Miami Hurricanes.

Green is a 6-foor-4, 215-pound edge from Stone Mountain, Ga., where he totaled 129 total tackles and 18 sacks his junior year at Stephenson High School. He is ranked as ESPN’s sixth defensive end for the 2027 cycle and is also No. 45 in the SC Next 300. Green is the No. 5 overall prospect out of his state.

The news comes after ESPN’s No. 39 overall prospect Jaiden Bryant flipped to the Hurricanes on Wednesday after being committed since Jan. 3 as head coach Lane Kiffin’s first pledge from 2027 after leaving the Ole Miss Rebels. This certainly helps soften that blow a little.

Green is the second ranked prospect in the five top 300 pledges Kiffin has picked up in the 2027 class, and he stands to fill a major need for the Tigers. LSU has been looking for elite pass rusher producers.

For context, Harold Perkins led a strong defense with just four sacks last season. It’s a position they’ve invested in in the portal in Princewill Umanmielen and via recruiting for freshman Trenton Henderson, and Green will look to slot into a potentially elite unit.
