Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers landed his highest in-state ranked pledge yet in Ahmad Hudson.

There will be a lot of eyes on the LSU Tigers and new head coach Lane Kiffin as things inch closer towards the college football season. But Kiffin is equally working on the future of the Tigers, and it didn’t take long for him to snag LSU’s biggest 2027 recruiting win yet. The No. 1 tight end in the 2027 class, four-star Ahmad Hudson, committed to the Tigers over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Hudson is Kiffin’s highest ranked in-state pledge since assuming the reins.

Hudson took to social media to announce his choice. He had previously scheduled visits to the Texas A&M Aggies and USC Trojans in addition to LSU and Nebraska before narrowing it down to the Tigers and Cornhuskers. Hudson took multiple visits to the LSU campus in 2026 before making his decision. The Ruston, La. native is 6-foot-6, 225 pounds and is the No. 22 overall recruit and No. 3 recruit in the state of Louisiana in the SC Next 300. He is also a two-sport standout with high major basketball offers in addition to the football programs coveting him in the Big Ten and SEC, showcasing some elite athleticism.

To read more about the latest recruiting grab and the traits he brings to the Tigers, here is the full story from LSU Roundtable writer Dylan Sanders.

While Hudson was a major grab, LSU isn’t done yet, with the program expected to focus on remaining targets such as five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson and top wide receiver Easton Royal, who is currently committed to the Texas Longhorns. But Hudson’s commitment signals how much the team and Kiffin are in the mix for premier 2027 talent.
