Fresh off a title game appearance, the Hurricanes are targeting four-star playmaker Eli Woodward to forge a dynamic receiving room and solidify their championship potential.

The Miami Hurricanes may have come up just short of a National Championship run back in January, but the team is still looking to keep its potential to hoist CFP trophy alive by pursuing another top wide receiver to add to its roster.

Four-star wideout Eli Woodward was initially committed to attend an in-state school, USC, as a member of the 2027 recruiting class. Instead, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound receiver has decommitted from the program, and experts believe that the Hurricanes are looking to make a push to land the recruit.

For more on the Hurricanes' pursuit, Miami Roundtable writer Anthony Aguirre has more details.

Going into the 2026 season, the Hurricane's wide receiver room is sure to be headlined by dynamic sophomore wideout Malachi Toney. Pairing Toney up with Woodward for 2027, as Toney then gears up for a potential NFL Draft bid following his Junior year, could be enough to help put the Hurricanes' offense over the top.

The team already has a commitment from star wideout Nick Lennear from Miami Northwestern, bolstering the class and wide receiver group further.

After losing in the National Championship game 27-21 and the departure of quarterback Carson Beck to the NFL, Miami will have some rebuilding to do in order to keep its title ambitions alive. Landing the commitment of Woodward would certainly help.

Woodward finished his junior year with 51 receptions, 1,070 receiving yards, and 17 touchdowns catches while playing on both sides of the ball. On defense, he added 32 tackles, an interception and seven pass breakups.
