The Orlando pass-rusher chose the Aggies over Alabama, Florida, Florida State and South Carolina.
The Texas A&M Aggies have continued to bolster the nation’s top ranked recruiting class in 2027 and added an elite defender to that haul on Tuesday as four-star outside linebacker Frederick Ards committed to the Aggies. The decision deepens a front seven and strengthens what’s already the best class in college football.
Ards is a 6-foot-5, 220-pound defender out of Jones High School in Orlando, Fl., where he is ranked as ESPN’s No. 6 outside linebacker and No. 64 prospect. He totaled 80 tackles and 11 sacks during his junior season, catching the eye of top SEC programs. He ultimately chose Texas A&M over the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, and South Carolina Gamecocks.
Head coach Mike Elko now has secured his 10th top-100 pledge, and the program now has a nation-leading 13 SC Next 300 commits. Ards will join a defensive line that already touts five-star edge Zyron Forstall, outside linebacker Aston Whiteside, and defensive tackles Myels Smith and Elijah Patmon.

A&M isn’t done yet this cycle, as they’re still chasing top prospects including the No. 2 overall prospect in the nation, cornerback John Meredith, who the Texas Longhorns are battling for as well. They will also be set to host five-star cornerback Josh Dobson and outside linebacker Kaden Henderson in what could be one of the most elite classes in A&M and college football history.
