The fourth overall pick silenced early critics with a double-double in just his third career NBA game.
The Chicago Bulls are off to a 1-2 start to the 2026-27 season, but they just got a tremendous performance out of Caleb Wilson.
The former North Carolina Tar Heels star was selected No. 4 overall for a reason, and he proved exactly why in his third NBA game.
Wilson had a brutal plus/minus total in his NBA debut, but he turned things around with a rock-solid 21-point performance in game 2, which was a 132-125 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
In his third game, the Heat fell to the Washington Wizards, 124-120. Wilson, who played 32 and 33 minutes in his first two games, was on the court for 38 minutes in this one.
The UNC legend led all scorers in the losing effort. His 10 field goals were a game high, and while he was only 1-for-9 from three-point range, he drilled nine of his 11 free throws and ended with a double-double.
Wilson's 14 rebounds were tied for a game high alongside Wizards' Justin Champagnie.
This was a monstrous performance for Wilson in more ways than one, but especially so when considering the fact that he only had 10 rebounds in his first two games combined.
Wilson shines as the Bulls fall to 1-2
It only took three games for Wilson to record his first career double-double in the NBA. This is a guy who had 11 doubles in his lone year with the Tar Heels.
He finished his only collegiate season averaging 19.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, so it's clear just how much those double-doubles impacted his numbers that year.
Through three NBA games, he's averaging an astonishing 22.3 points per game along with 8.0 rebounds per game.
In addition, Wilson is averaging 2.0 steals per game to go along with 1.3 assists and blocks per game.
After turning the ball over nine times in his NBA debut, he worked out the kinks with a zero-turnover game against the Wizards. That's a huge sign of improvement for the 6-foot-9 forward who has quickly made adjustments at the next level.
Wilson and this Bulls team went 1-1 in their first back-to-back of the season, and they're now able to enjoy a day off before heading to Boston to take on the Celtics on Monday, Oct. 26.
Once that game is completed, they'll return home for a marquee showdown against the reigning NBA Champion New York Knicks on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
