Pushing the top-ranked Hurricanes to the brink ignited a spark in Chapel Hill.
The North Carolina Tar Heels lost a heartbreaker against No. 1 Miami, 38-35, but this team proved more in that game than they have all season long.
The Hurricanes were just named the No. 1 team in the nation for the third straight week, so there's no shame in Bill Belichick's squad for losing that one.
It's a game that some would argue they should've won, but at the end of the day, not even a nearly perfect performance from Billy Edwards Jr. was enough to get the job done.
The senior quarterback's confidence should be through the roof, and that's going to be a huge boost to this team going into its final four games.
A trip to East Hartford, CT, will get things started on Saturday, Nov. 7, as part of a four-game stretch where there's no reason why the Tar Heels can't run the table.
Combined record of UConn's four wins: 12-20
UConn is 4-4, but it's not like they have a signature win yet this season. UNC's is against Pittsburgh, no doubt, but they lost basically all of that momentum, having dropped their last two to Syracuse and Miami.
Regardless, there's no better starting point to get back on track than against the Huskies.
UConn's four wins come against opponents with a combined 12-20 record, and this is a perfectly acceptable tune-up game before ACC play resumes.
Louisville is hot, but vulnerable
The Louisville Cardinals just improved to 5-3 (4-2) with a 52-24 victory over Stanford.
Louisville did indeed take care of business against Syracuse, but this is a team that's lost to both Wake Forest and NC State.
Virginia will be at or below .500
UNC's second-to-last game of the year will be against a 4-6 or 5-5 Virginia squad.
The Cavaliers have California to deal with on Saturday, Nov. 14, and their bye week couldn't have come at a better time as they've dropped three straight to SMU, Duke, and Wake Forest.
NC State is in shambles
Back on Oct. 24, NC State officially marked the end of the Dave Doeren era.
Firing a coach during the middle of the year always shows just how bad things truly are, and the Wolfpack did just that after falling to 3-4 in a three-point loss at Stanford.
NC State won its next game against California, 31-10, and will host Duke and Syracuse before ending the year at Florida State and UNC.
