Injury woes threaten the Tar Heels' winning streak as wideout Jordan Shipp headlines a potentially depleted roster.
With defensive back Tre Miller already ruled out for North Carolina's game against Syracuse on Saturday, Oct. 24, the Tar Heels could be in trouble.
One starter being ruled out isn't necessarily the end of the world, but UNC's initial availability report sees six starters all listed as questionable.
Wide receiver Jordan Shipp headlines that list, and he's joined by two other offensive stars, a kicker, and a pair of DBs.
Overall, things could be worse, as seen with three of Syracuse's quarterbacks being listed on the report.
That said, if Bill Belichick's squad wants to carry the momentum of a two-game winning streak, they're going to need everyone to get healthy quickly, or hope they have the depth to get the job done against the Orange.
Six UNC starters listed as questionable
Shipp's name appearing on the Wednesday, Oct. 21 injury report is quite concerning as he leads the team with his 33 receptions for 441 yards.
Shipp may only have one receiving touchdown, but he's clearly quarterback Billy Edwards Jr.'s favorite target, and it's really not even close.
Tight end Jelani Thurman has been his safety blanket with 26 receptions, but it's crazy to think that UNC's second and third-leading receivers combined have as many catches as Shipp.
Other offensive starters who are listed as questionable are RB Benjamin Hall and OL Jordan Hall.
If having the leading receiver on the injury report isn't concerning, what about the leading running back?
Hall paces the team with 57 carries for 283 yards, though somehow he doesn't have a single touchdown all year.
Regardless, his 5.0 yards per carry are nearly a team-high, only behind Jaylen McGill, who's averaging 5.7 yards, though he has 27 fewer attempts.
Kicker Aeron Burrell is a perfect 8/8 on extra point attempts, though he's just 4/7 with his field goals. Keep in mind, all three misses have come from the 40 to 49-yard range. His longest on the year is 33 yards.
Defensively, Kaleb Cost and Peyton Waters are both listed as questionable.
Waters has 22 total tackles, 13 of which are solo, while Cost has 16 total tackles (11 solo). Respectively, Waters is eighth on the team in total tackles, with Cost being 10th. Combined, they have two of the team's 22 pass deflections this season.
As for Syracuse, the Orange have linebacker Antoine Deslauriers, QB Steve Angeli, and K Tripp Woody listed as questionable.
Syracuse has five players ruled out, while UNC is going into this one with eight players already ruled out.
