    The Wildcats gritted their way to a 19-0 victory over Purdue last Saturday, the team's first shutout since 2017 against Maryland. Northwestern's defense forced three turnovers and three turnovers on downs over the game's final six drives, and the 'Cats won the time of possession battle by more than 15 minutes. Among the 136 FBS teams, the Wildcats rank No. 11 nationally in scoring defense, No. 22 in total defense, No. 3 in penalty yards per game, No. 5 in time of possession and No. 39 in rushing offense.

    Northwestern is set to face Nebraska on the road on Saturday. The Cornhuskers are 5-2, coming off a 24-6 loss to Minnesota that dropped them from the previous week's AP Poll. After Nebraska, the 'Cats have a week off before taking on USC, then will play No. 25 Michigan, Minnesota and No. 23 Illinois to close out the season.
