Northwestern quarterback Aidan Chiles earns his second Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor after accounting for five touchdowns against Rutgers.
Northwestern quarterback Aidan Chiles continues to make a name for himself across college football, and his latest performance has earned him another major honor.
Following Northwestern’s dominant 42-14 victory over Rutgers on Saturday, Chiles was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
The announcement comes just a day after Pro Football Focus recognized Chiles as the highest-graded Power Four quarterback of Week 8, awarding him an impressive 92.1 grade.
And after another outstanding performance, the recognition is certainly deserved.
Against Rutgers, Chiles completed 19 of 25 passes for 219 yards and three touchdowns while adding a career-high 83 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
His five total touchdowns helped Northwestern improve to 6-1 and extend its winning streak to four games.
Chiles wasted little time making an impact, finding Griffin Wilde for a 13-yard touchdown on the Wildcats’ opening possession. He later connected with tight end Alex Honig and wide receiver Drew Wagner for touchdowns while adding two rushing scores of his own.
Although Chiles threw his first interception of the season, he continued to demonstrate the accuracy, confidence and playmaking ability that have made him one of the Big Ten’s most impressive quarterbacks.
What makes this latest honor even more significant is that it marks his second Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week selection this season.
Chiles previously received the award following Northwestern’s 41-7 victory over Colorado, when he also accounted for three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns.
However, his success goes far beyond these two performances.
Through seven games, Chiles has thrown for 1,617 yards and 12 touchdowns while completing a Big Ten-leading 71.3% of his passes. He has also added nine rushing touchdowns, giving him 21 total scores this season.
Northwestern’s Aidan Chiles arrives with the team before the game against Michigan State on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing.Under offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, Chiles looks increasingly comfortable leading Northwestern’s offense.
He has consistently made smart decisions with the football, limited costly mistakes and demonstrated an ability to extend plays when necessary.
Perhaps most importantly, Chiles has done an excellent job distributing the football and getting his teammates involved.
Whether it’s finding Wilde downfield, connecting with tight ends Alex Honig and Luke Dehnicke or working alongside a productive rushing attack led by Caleb Komolafe, Chiles has helped make Northwestern’s offense difficult to defend.
That balance has been a major reason the Wildcats are averaging 34.7 points per game, one of the best offensive starts in program history.
And for a Northwestern team that entered the season with plenty of questions surrounding its offense, Chiles’ development has been one of the biggest reasons for its success.
His consistency, leadership and ability to make plays in important moments have transformed the Wildcats into a team capable of competing with some of the Big Ten’s best.
With Northwestern preparing for a difficult road matchup against Oregon, the Wildcats will once again rely on Chiles to lead the offense.
But regardless of what happens next, his latest conference honor is another reminder of just how impressive his season has been.
And if he continues playing at this level, it certainly won’t be surprising to see even more recognition come his way.
