The Tennessee Titans selected offensive lineman Peter Skoronski with the No. 11 overall pick just two-and-a-half years ago, making him the highest-drafted Northwestern Wildcat since 1983. So far in his young career, he's lived up to his pedigree.

While his team has struggled to find wins, Skoronski has been a mainstay at left guard. He has given up just one sack over the first eight weeks and is currently graded as Pro Football Focus' third-best guard this year.

It would be foolish for the Titans to part ways with their 24-year-old rising star, especially on a roster nearly devoid of talent, but Tennessee has been prone to making confusing moves in the past. In a hypothetical trade article matching unlikely trade candidates to their perfect team fits, PFF writer Bradley Locker outlined a "fairytale" pairing in which Skoronski ended up with the Seattle Seahawks.

"If [Jeffery] Simmons is the most decorated star on a poor Tennessee team, then Skoronski might be the most unsung," Locker wrote. "The third-year guard has played like one of the best at his position this season, as evidenced by his 78.8 overall PFF grade. In fact, Skoronski has notched 76.0-plus grades in both pass- and run-blocking."

The Titans are 1-7 at the season's midpoint, on the heels of an NFL-worst 3-14 record last year, and fired head coach Brian Callahan after Week 6. On the other hand, Seattle is 5-2 and leading the NFC West behind a strong season from quarterback Sam Darnold. It would take a lot of picks for the Seahawks to get a player like Skoronski, and Tennessee almost certainly would not trade him. But with the Titans' season being a complete trainwreck, the front office could look to accumulate as many draft picks as possible.

"Skoronski has exclusively played left guard in the NFL, which wouldn’t necessarily fit cleanly in Seattle," Locker continued. "Still, his ability to occupy all five offensive line slots was touted in his pre-draft evaluations, and [Grey] Zabel also suited up at right guard during portions of his college days. Skoronski seems too good and young to realistically be on the market, but the Northwestern product could solve one of few holes on a powerhouse Seattle squad."

Rookie No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward has been sacked 34 times this season, which leads the league. It's difficult to imagine a scenario in which the Titans choose to provide their franchise player with worse protection, but crazier things have happened at the NFL Trade Deadline.

Skoronski was a unanimous All-American left tackle for Northwestern in 2022 and started 32 games in purple.
