Notre Dame secures an offer for Indiana's elite linebacker Sean Fox. Discover his size, strength, and why he's a top recruit.
The state of Indiana has several talented 2027 prospects, and Notre Dame recently offered one of those big time players. Last week, Notre Dame offered Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central standout linebacker Sean Fox. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound prospect has a rare combination of size, strength and length that can’t be found among recruits in the Midwest, especially in Indiana.
Nevertheless, the consensus four-star prospect has shined during all three years of high school at Class 6A Indianapolis powerhouses. He began his career at Lawrence Central (Indianapolis) before moving onto Warren Central. Heading into his senior season, Fox looks to once again be a key player for the Warren Central defense. He helped lead the Warriors to an 8-5 record, losing to eventual state champion Brownsburg in a semi-state matchup.
Notre Dame has had their eye on Fox for some time, with head coach Marcus Freeman and the staff taking notice of his tools. That culminated with a March offer to the Warren Central standout, and that was followed almost immediately but Fox making a campus visit.
"They kind of started contacting me earlier that week and they started trying to build a relationship," Fox told Irish Breakdown following Warren Central’s first spring practice. "So I made plans to go up there and meet the staff and do all that stuff. That’s kind of how it came about."
Fox was able to get plenty of attention and learned quite a bit more about the Notre Dame program during that visit.
"We got to listen the meetings the team meetings," Fox said of the visit. "I got to watch practice, and after that we toured to the campus and then we toured the facility. I met with Coach Freeman and he offered me.”
The offer was a surprise for Fox, who is also receiving strong attention from the in-state Indiana Hoosiers. Indeed, he was donning an Indiana national championship T-shirt at practice. Still, he made clear that Notre Dame has a chance to woo him to South Bend, especially with Freeman in charge.
"He's a great leader, man," Fox said of Freeman. "I got to meet him and spent some time with him and kind of pick his brain about how things are ran and what he wants in a player. So, I like how things are ran. They run very well, as you can see, they've had a lot of success in the past couple years. Definitely a well-oiled machine."
In addition to Freeman, Fox has started building a relationship with linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary, who he holds in high regard.
"I like him a whole bunch," he said of the first-year Notre Dame linebackers coach. "They' really super honest, up front, all that good stuff, you know, not telling me I’m the best at everything or blowing me up, you know. They’re trying to tell me what I need to work trying to reach my full potential."
So, what sticks out to Fox about Notre Dame the most of all?
"A prestigious institute, where you get to play good football, get a good education, and it's not too far from home," he explained.
Fox is ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 233 overall player by 247Sports, and a four-star recruit and the No. 255 overall player by On3. He holds a huge offer list that includes Notre Dame, Indiana, Georgia, Clemson, Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Kansas, Minnesota and Purdue among many others.
