Notre Dame targets elite 2028 receiver Madoxx Davis, a dynamic playmaker with an impressive offer sheet. A budding bond with Coach Brown and a former teammate could sway his decision.

Notre Dame is always looking for playmakers, and one of the best in the 2028 class is Cartersville, Ga./Cartersville star wide receiver Madoxx Davis. Notre Dame offered Davis in March and are looking to quickly build a strong bond with Davis, who has all the playmaking tools that Notre Dame covets on offense.

The Peach State athlete is not completely unfamiliar with Notre Dame, making an early connection with wide receivers coach Mike Brown and fellow Georgia native Teddy Jarrard. In fact, Jarrard and Davis were once teammates.

"It was a blessing to have been offered by Notre Dame," Davis told Irish Breakdown. "I only spoke briefly with Coach [Brown], but I have heard a lot of good things about him from Teddy Jarrard. He's been committed there for a while and he and his family speak very highly of him and the program."

The Irish are still focused on locking down the Class of 2027, but the connection with Jarrard will be a big one down the line as Notre Dame seeks to land Davis. After receiving the offer, Davis is already planning a spring visit to Notre Dame later this month and meet head coach Marcus Freeman for the first time.

"I really like what I've heard about Coach Freeman as well and I am looking forward to getting up there for a spring practice," Davis noted. "I have more schools to visit in April that would be of interest. Oklahoma and Indiana are two schools that have not offered but want me to come to a practice. I am working with my parents to see if we can get to Oklahoma and Indiana as well. But I will definitely make the trip to Notre Dame now that they have offered."

Like countless players his age, Davis wants to go to the NFL and wants a college team who will prepare him for the game’s highest level. He plans to take his time in the process of deciding which school is the best fit for him, with no timeline given so far. He definitely finds Notre Dame’s winning culture, exemplified over the past two years, to be a very appealing factor that is hard to turn down.

"The Notre Dame program to me means ‘historic, legacy and Rudy,'" he said with a wry grin. "But also they have been in the mix for a national championship the past few years. That means a lot."

Davis is ranked as the nation's No. 26 overall player in the country by On3. As a sophomore he racked up 36 catches for 774 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 21.5 yards per catch. His impressive early offer list already includes the Irish, Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Miami (Fla.), Texas A&M, Florida, USC, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Auburn, South Carolina and Vanderbilt among many others.
