Talented running back Isaiah Rogers impressed by Notre Dame's facilities and coaching staff. An official visit looms as the Irish make a powerful impression.

Notre Dame had a number of big time recruits on campus last weekend, and one of the most talented players to make the trip was Springfield, Mass./Central running back Isaiah Rogers. The Class of 2027 playmaker recently included Notre Dame in his list of eight final schools, so this visit was with an eye on an ultimate decision.

Notre Dame made a major impression on the talented back.

"I think they are great," Rogers said of the Notre Dame program. "They have a new facility coming out this coming June, way bigger than what they have now. By the time I would get there, it’s going to be finished. The facilities now look great, but in June they're going to look even better so I'm excited about that."

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound tailback is really impressed with running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider and head coach Marcus Freeman.

"Coach Seider is a great teacher, great developer," Rogers told Irish Breakdown. "His resume speaks for itself. He has four backs that went into the league this year. He’s a great person on and off the field. He communicated with my mom how he won’t just develop me on the field but off the field as a man as well."

Freeman earned equally rave reviews.

"I think he has a great vision," Rogers said of the future of Notre Dame under Freeman. "He has a winning program; they got cut short this past year (after being eliminated from the NCAA playoffs), but, I mean, they are competing for a national championship every single year. The development of the program is there, it’s definitely there."

For Rogers, he plans to schedule an official visit in June, especially after watching the Irish practice during spring ball.

"It was very competitive," Rogers noted. "It was very high tempo. Guys got to compete at a high level, it was a great practice. It was fun to watch; I wanted to get on the field myself with how excited I was. Just the competitiveness overall, how guys would practice. Guys would get into a couple of tussles, but they all know they are on the same team and working on the same goal."

Notre Dame was early to the party on Rogers' services, offering him just a little over a year ago on Pot of Gold Day. His only previous offer was from Boston College. The fact that Notre Dame was just his second offer left a lasting impression on the tailback.

"It meant a lot to me," Rogers said. "I feel like that offer kind of paved the way for where I’m at now. Right after that offer, I got my ranking. That offer told me and inspired me to work harder, to keep getting better so I can ultimately get to a position where I’m at now."

In February, Rogers announced Notre Dame made his top eight, with Georgia, Nebraska, UCLA, Penn State, Indiana, North Carolina and Virginia Tech also in the mix. Notre Dame's recent trip put the Irish program in a great position among this group of big time programs.
