Fresh off landing dynamic playmakers Jackson Coleman and Titus Hawk, the Irish are aggressively targeting elite prospects across Florida and California to secure their offensive future.
Notre Dame has been very busy on the recruiting trail this spring, and that continued this past week. The Irish have landed big commitments, are trending in a good direction with other players and the offers to 2028 and 2029 prospects continues to roll in.
Here’s a recap of all the Notre Dame recruiting activity last week.
Notre Dame Lands Big Time Commitments
After back-to-back commitments from Aidan O’Neil and Wonderful “Champ” Monds IV a week ago, Notre Dame landed two more verbal pledges in one day to kick off the week. The Irish landed Highlands Ranch, Colo./Valor Christian wide receiver Jackson Coleman and Choctaw, Okla./Choctaw tight end Titus Hawk.
Hawk, a 6-foot-7, 210-pound tight end, has the measurables Notre Dame looks for at the position. His height, combined with his arm length, give him a wide catch radius. Moreover, he is an outstanding run blocker and great finisher who drives his feet on contact extremely well. He is a tremendous all-around prospect, and a huge boost for the position in the future.
Meanwhile, Coleman is a top receiver with strength after the catch and a big, 6-foot-4, 195-pound frame. He also has excellent speed for his size, the ability to break away from defenses and score touchdowns if he gets out in space. Coleman, a 4.0-star recruit on the Irish Breakdown board, had 45 catches for 975 yards and nine touchdowns last fall. Both Coleman and Hawk averaged over 20 yards per catch as juniors.
Irish Continue Handing Out Offers In 2028
Notre Dame extended three offers to Class of 2028 prospects, two in California and one in Florida. Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Palos Verdes safety Jalen Flowers recorded 51 tackles, six pass breakups, five interceptions and 11 touchdowns last season. The two-way prospect is ranked as California’s No. 3 prospect. Long Beach, Calif./Poly two-way prospect Zion Anderson was also offered. West Palm Beach, Fla./Cardinal Newman athlete Kahlil Gabaud isn't ranked by the recruiting services yet, but Notre Dame sees plenty of potential in the 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect – enough to land his 12th offer.
Notre Dame Getting Early Work With 2029 Class
Notre Dame does not extend offers to rising sophomores very often, especially without seeing them at camp, so it definitely came as a surprise when six prospects landed opportunities from the Irish. Three Sunshine State prospects – Fort Lauderdale, Fla./American Heritage athlete Jeffrey O’Neal, Melbourne, Fla./Melbourne running back Tyrese Jefferson, and Wellington, Fla./Wellington wide receiver Tarrens Catul – all received offers from Notre Dame. Florida tends to have a lot of speed and Notre Dame wants to add plenty of juice to their offense in the future. La Verne, Calif./Damien cornerback Christian “Cai” Wallace also picked up an offer from Notre Dame, who happens to be his first offer.
Notre Dame is also already putting in work with 2029 quarterbacks. A prospect the staff is starting to develop a relationship with is Dallas, Texas/Parish Episcopal quarterback Logan Lucero. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound passer led his team to a state championship as a freshman, an impressive feat. Lucero is a dual-threat QB who can throw with accuracy and make plays with his legs, something college football offenses in the modern era need. Undoubtedly, he will become one of the country’s coveted prizes in the years to come. Another offer at the quarterback position was Cumming, Ga./South Forsyth gunslinger Khayel Sam Fong-Talia, a 6-foot-2, 225 pounder and dual-threat quarterback. Fong-Talia is coming off a breakout season where he recorded 2,315 yards passing, 25 touchdowns, 231 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns.
Upcoming Decisions
Notre Dame is one of five schools that are trying to make a final push to land Chicago, Ill./St. Patrick defensive tackle David Folorunsho. He will announce his commitment on Friday, May 15th. Folorunsho is a consensus Top 100 recruit that ranks as the nation's No. 9 overall player, No. 2 defensive lineman and No. 1 player in Illinois according to Rivals/On. He will decide between Notre Dame, Miami, Georgia, Texas Tech and Michigan. This has been a back and forth recruitment, but things are certainly trending in Notre Dame's favor as the Irish head into closing time.
There are no other public commitments scheduled at this time, but don't be surprised if that changes.
