The Ohio State Buckeyes came away from West Lafayette victorious on Saturday, but it wasn't perfect.

The Ohio State Buckeyes took care of business on Saturday, defeating the Purdue Boilermakers 34-10.

Throughout the week 11 contest, the Buckeyes were rolling over Purdue, while also having multiple moments where fans were scratching their heads thinking, "what are they doing?" The bottom line is, the goal is to just win, regardless of the opponent.

Saturday's contest got off to a wild start for head coach Ryan Day and his squad. After spoiling Purdue's opening drive, where they converted a long 3rd down, the Buckeyes' offense set up shop backed up on their own 30 yard line.

One of the main focus heading into this game was for the Buckeyes to find their run game, and they did it on the very first play.

Quarterback Julian Sayin handed the ball off over the left end to Bo Jackson, who scampered 70 yards to the house. However, the big-time play was called back due flag on the play. Star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith was called for a block in the back that set the Buckeyes back and they eventually punted the ball.

Purdue's ensuing drive went the length of the field, where they had to settle for a field goal to grab a 3-0 lead. Ohio State got the ball back, and Smith began to turn up the heat. The impressive playmaker hauled in a huge ball to the one-yard line as the clock expired in the first quarter.

Smith's reception set the table for the Buckeyes to take a stranglehold of the game, as the Buckeyes would put up 24 points in the second quarter to take a 24-3 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

During the second quarter, the Buckeyes' offense had two highlight plays that truly defined Saturday's game.

The first was Smith's record-setting touchdown reception, as Ohio State used a long drive to move the ball into Purdue territory, and they wasted little time cashing in. Smith lined up in the left slot, and offensive coordinator Brian Hartline dialed up the perfect play call where Smith took two steps to a corner route, put his foot in the ground, and went straight to the post. Sayin had his best throw of the day, hitting Smith perfectly in stride for the touchdown.

This was Smith's 25th career touchdown reception in just his 25th career game. He is the fastest Ohio State receiver to accomplish that feat.

The other highlight sequence was the Buckeyes offense getting the football back with 47 seconds left to go in the half with no timeouts, needing over 50 yards to get into field goal range. Sayin would then orchestrate a perfect two-minute drive to set up kicker Jayden Fielding for a 49-yard attempt that he buried to extend Ohio State's lead.

Unfortantely for the No. 1 team in the nation, the second half was not great for the Buckeyes. The offensive would move the football up and down the field, but twice they stalled out inside the 15-yard line. The first drive resulted in an inexcusable Sayin interception, and the second led to a field goal attempt.

Regardless of some of the negatives from Saturday, Ohio State secured a 20-plus point victory. It doesn't matter who the opponent is, that is hard to do and the Buckeyes did it with relative ease.

Next up for Ohio State are back-to-back home games, with the first matchup occurring under the lights against the UCLA Bruins next Saturday Night.
