The Ohio State Buckeyes are being seen as the top team in the country entering Week 4.
The Ohio State Buckeyes took out some frustration against Kent State over the past weekend, dominating the game 59-3.
After dropping a game to the Texas Longhorns the week prior, the Buckeyes came out with a vengeance in this one. Ohio State is still one of the best teams in the country, and it won't ever be easy for anyone to take them down.
Even in the game against Texas, it took the Buckeyes blowing a fourth quarter lead for them to lose. There was a lot of self inflicted mistakes against the Longhorns, leading to the tough road loss.
But one college football analyst still sees Ohio State as the best team in the country. According to analyst Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports, the Buckeyes are ranked as the top team in a new rating.
Ohio State still has everything in front of them despite the loss to Texas, especially since it was a close game on the road. This team will still be favored to win the National Championship, assuming no major injuries take place.
The Buckeyes still have star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, who may be the best player in all of college football. Smith is looking to go after the Heisman Trophy this season, and he is off to an excellent start so far.
For the year, through three games, Smith has caught 21 passes for 400 yards and three touchdowns. Smith broke onto the scene as a freshman for the Buckeyes two years ago, catching 76 passes for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns.
With Smith and quarterback Julian Sayin, the Buckeyes remain a tough out for any team to deal with. This group is battle-tested, and they believe that they can go up against anyone in the country.
The Buckeyes schedule will get a little tougher moving forward, with the team taking on the Illinois Fighting Illini at home. Ohio State will then head out on the road to face the Iowa Hawkeyes, in what could be a top-20 showdown in the Big Ten.
Then the Buckeyes will face off against Maryland, before a showdown with the Indiana Hoosiers on the road. This game could present some problems for the Buckeyes, especially since they already dropped one contest.
Ohio State then heads on the road again to face the USC Trojans, before coming home to play the Oregon Ducks. This three game stretch of games for Ohio State will determine everything, but this group will be ready to go.
