Oklahoma State men's golf opened its season with a statement, winning the Sahalee Players Championship by 28 shots over No. 1 Florida. Eric Lee finished second, Gaven Lane fourth, while Preston Stout and Ethan Fang tied for fifth as four Cowboys finished inside the top five.

Oklahoma State men's golf couldn't have asked for a much more dominant start to its season.

The No. 2 Cowboys rolled to a 28-shot victory at the Sahalee Players Championship on Sunday at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington, finishing at 4-under 860 and leaving a loaded field far behind.

The team that finished second? No. 1 Florida.

The Gators finished at 24-over 888 as Oklahoma State turned what had already been a commanding lead into a runaway victory during the final round.

OSU entered Sunday with an 11-shot advantage before firing a 4-under 284, the best round of the day, to more than double its winning margin.

The 28-shot victory was Oklahoma State's largest since winning the stroke-play portion of the 2019 NCAA Championship by 31 shots. And the Cowboys' senior stars were all over the individual leaderboard.

Four Cowboys Finish in Top Five

Eric Lee led Oklahoma State with a runner-up finish, posting rounds of 70, 70 and 71 to finish at 5-under 211.

Lee entered the final round four shots off the individual lead and nearly walked away with the title.

Washington's Finn Koelle ultimately produced a dramatic finish on his home course, making a hole-in-one on his final hole to capture medalist honors at 7-under, two shots ahead of Lee.

Behind him came even more Cowboys. Gaven Lane fired a final-round 70 to climb into fourth at 1-under 215. Ethan Fang matched Lane's closing 70 to finish tied for fifth at 1-over 217, while Preston Stout joined him at T5 after rounds of 72, 72 and 73.

That gave Oklahoma State four of the top five spots on the individual leaderboard.

Lee — 2nd.

Lane — 4th.

Fang — T5.

Stout — T5.

PGA TOUR University Quartet Delivers Immediately

The performance comes just days after those same four Oklahoma State golfers appeared inside the first PGA TOUR University Top 25 of the season.

Stout opened the year ranked No. 1, followed by Fang at No. 12, Lee at No. 15 and Lane at No. 18.

No other program had more than two players inside the Top 25. It didn't take long for Oklahoma State's quartet to demonstrate why.

All four finished inside the top five at Sahalee, helping the Cowboys overwhelm a field that included several of the best programs in college golf.

Florida entered the tournament ranked No. 1 nationally. Oklahoma State was No. 2. By the end of the weekend, 28 shots separated them.

Statement Made in Season Opener

Oklahoma State entered the season with national championship expectations. The Cowboys returned their entire projected starting lineup from a team that reached the NCAA Championship semifinals last season, including four of the highest-ranked seniors in college golf.

Their first tournament did nothing to lower those expectations. OSU led after 36 holes. Then it pulled away. Four Cowboys finished in the top five. And the nation's No. 1 team finished 28 shots behind them.

It's only one tournament. But Oklahoma State's first statement of the 2026-27 season was a loud one. The Cowboys look every bit like a national championship contender.
