Oklahoma State softball continued its red-hot streak by clinching the Big 12 series over Baylor with a 4-2 win on Friday and a 9-1 victory on Saturday in Waco.

WACO, TX — No. 14 Oklahoma State softball continued its peak form by clinching the three game Big 12 series against Baylor with wins in the first two contests at Getterman Stadium.

The Cowgirls took Game 1 by a 4-2 score on Friday night and followed with a commanding 9-1 victory in six innings on Saturday, improving to 33-13 overall and 13-7 in conference play. Baylor fell to 27-22 (9-11 Big 12).

This series clinching performance caps an impressive stretch for the Cowgirls, who have been rolling under the leadership of ace pitcher Ruby Meylan. Oklahoma State recently defeated No. 1 Oklahoma 6-4, took 2 of 3 from No. 16 Arizona last weekend (including a 7-5 series clinching win), and knocked off No. 4 Texas 5-0 in Austin on Wednesday. The weekend sweep opportunity over Baylor would serve as the perfect capstone to this momentum-building run.

Friday’s Game 1 (OSU 4, Baylor 2)

A pitchers’ duel defined the opener, with Baylor’s Peyton Tanner no-hitting OSU through 4.2 innings. The Bears led 2-0 into the seventh after Amber Toven’s RBI sacrifice fly in the first and RBI single in the fifth.

Oklahoma State came through in the final frame. With the bases loaded, Rosie Davis singled to score one, Lexi McDonald tied it with a sacrifice fly, and Amanda Hasler delivered a two-RBI triple to seal the 4-2 comeback.

Ruby Meylan earned the win (22-6), tossing a complete game with five hits allowed, one earned run, two walks, and four strikeouts on 103 pitches. Tanner took a tough no-decision before Cambree Creager (9-10) absorbed the loss in relief.

Saturday’s Game 2 (OSU 9, Baylor 1)

The Cowgirls wasted no time on Saturday, scoring four first-inning runs capped by Amanda Hasler’s grand slam. Karli Godwin added a solo homer in the second for a 5-0 lead.

Baylor scratched across an unearned run in the fourth on a failed pickoff, but OSU added insurance with an RBI double in the fifth and three more in the sixth to invoke the run rule.

Preslee Downing earned the win (5-0) in relief or spot duty, while Lexie Warncke (3-4) took the loss for Baylor. Hasler drove in five runs across the two games, showcasing her clutch hitting. Key contributors included Godwin (multi-hit efforts and power) and the OSU defense, which limited Baylor to just five hits in the shortened contest.

Ruby Meylan’s Recent Dominance

Meylan has been unstoppable during this hot streak. In the win over No. 1 Oklahoma, she threw a complete game with nine strikeouts. Against Texas, she delivered a shutout, allowing just two hits and four strikeouts in seven innings. In the Arizona series, she picked up multiple wins, including battling through a line drive to the hand in the decisive 7-5 victory while posting strong strikeout totals.

Her season stats sit around 21-6 with a sub-2.40 ERA and over 170 strikeouts, anchoring a staff that has propelled OSU into strong NCAA Tournament positioning.

The Cowgirls’ recent form includes taking down top-ranked and highly competitive foes, boosting their RPI and showing their depth beyond Meylan. This road series win over Baylor marks another step in solidifying their conference standing and building confidence heading into the postseason stretch.

Game 3 Outlook

Oklahoma State will take the field in Sunday’s series finale at 1:00PM CT, aiming for the sweep.

Specific starters for Game 3 had not been confirmed as of Saturday evening, but expect the Cowgirls to lean on rested arms or a bullpen combination to close out the weekend. Baylor will likely counter with a pitcher such as Sadie Ross (who impressed in long relief on Saturday) or a returning starter in hopes of avoiding the sweep.

With the series already in hand, Oklahoma State enters Sunday playing with house money. A victory would extend their winning ways and further highlight a program surging at the right time. The Cowgirls have shown they can win close games with late rallies and blowouts with offensive firepower…hallmarks of a dangerous postseason team.
