The 6-foot-9 UCF transfer brings elite floor spacing and proven clutch scoring to Stillwater, offering Steve Lutz a versatile weapon to spearhead the Cowboys' roster overhaul
STILLWATER, Okla. — Jordan Burks has officially put pen to paper and signed with Oklahoma State.
The 6-foot-9 junior forward out of UCF is now officially a Cowboy as Coach Steve Lutz continues to reshape the roster through the transfer portal.
Lutz quickly praised the addition: "Jordan gives us another experienced, versatile piece with size, athleticism, and scoring ability," Lutz said.
"He can play multiple spots, stretch the floor, and make shots in big moments. You can see the growth in his game from year to year, and we're excited about the way he fits with how we want to play."
That’s exactly what OSU needs.
Burks is a guy who can truly score from anywhere on the floor, and in today’s basketball, you can never have too many scorers.
After starting all 33 games at UCF last season and averaging 13.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game, expect his production to jump even higher with a bigger role in Stillwater.
He’s been steadily improving every single year since his time at Kentucky, and now he’s walking into a situation where he should be one of the main guys.
Three-point shooting was a major weakness for the Cowboys last year as they shot just 33.9% from downtown, and Burks should help fix that. He drained 60 threes at a respectable 37% clip.
That kind of spacing can open things up for everybody else.
But what you really have to love about him is his clutch gene, that’s something you can’t teach.
He hit go-ahead threes in the final minute of wins over Kansas, Arizona State, and Utah.
That fearlessness in big moments is something Oklahoma State, and really any team for that matter, can use. Luckily for the Pokes, he’s a Cowboy now.
Burks can play the stretch four, small-ball five, or slide out to the wing depending on the matchup. That kind of flexibility is going to be huge for Lutz’s lineup combinations.
Lutz’s roster is going to look completely different from last season, with six players coming in from the transfer portal, along with four high school recruits.
Burks joins fellow transfers Julius Halaifonua from Georgetown, Andrija Grbovic from Arizona State, Jacob Walker from Sam Houston, Kashie Natt, who is also from Sam Houston, as well as Luka Bogavac from North Carolina.
The Cowboys’ high school additions include four-star Latrell Allmond from Richmond, VA, four-star Jalen Montonati of Owasso, four-star Anthony Felesi of Orem, UT, and three-star Parker Robinson from Olney, MD.
As Lutz looks to make the Big Dance for the first time since coming to Stillwater, he is banking on that the additions of Burks, and the nine others will be the difference to put his team over the top to take the next step forward for the program.
