Oklahoma State Cowboys Football Defensive Depth Chart Projection

As much talk as there has been about the Oklahoma State offense, you can’t forget about the defensive side of the ball.

New defensive coordinator Skyler Cassity comes over from North Texas with head coach Eric Morris, looking to do something similar to how he improved the Mean Green’s defense in 2025.

At just 31 years old, Cassity is viewed as one of the best young coordinators in all of college football. Last season, his defense at North Texas shaved nearly 10 points per game (34.1 down to 24.9) and allowed 90 fewer yards of total offense per game from the year prior.

The Oklahoma State defense features safety LaDainian Fields, who returns to Stillwater after a strong 2025 freshman campaign. In 255 defensive snaps, Fields finished with a PFF grade of 77.2.

When it comes to immediate impact, look no further than North Texas transfer Ethan Wesloski. Last season, Wesloski was the Mean Green’s leading tackler, finishing the year with 113 total tackles, nine tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

The best question mark for Oklahoma State’s defense is the pass rush. It does not seem for certain that they have a clear answer yet on who is going to be able to get after opposing quarterbacks.

If they can get that answer figured out, then the Cowboys defense could surprise people this season and compliment their high-powered offense.
