After clinching back-to-back SEC titles, Patty Gasso’s Sooners squad carries a 46-6 record and relentless momentum into the postseason, cementing their status as collegiate softball’s undisputed standard-bearer

The Oklahoma Sooners softball team continues its reign atop college softball, holding the No. 1 spot in the final regular season Softball America rankings after clinching their second consecutive SEC regular-season championship.

Under the guidance of head coach Patty Gasso, the Sooners have once again proven why they are the standard-bearer for the sport, blending dominant pitching, explosive offense, and relentless competitiveness even in the loaded SEC landscape.

Oklahoma finished the regular season with an impressive 46-6 overall record, including a strong 18-3 mark in SEC play. The Sooners swept Texas A&M in a doubleheader to seal the title outright, going a perfect 8-0 in conference series and finishing with the best SEC record since at least 2018 for a champion.

This marks back-to-back years of conference dominance since joining the SEC, carrying over their dominance from the Big 12.

The Sooners' lineup features a potent mix of power and speed, while their pitching staff, led by ace performers who have consistently delivered in big moments, has kept opponents in check.

Oklahoma's ability to win close games and blowouts alike has been a hallmark of their season. Their postseason trajectory looks strong as they enter the SEC Tournament as the top seed with momentum heading into NCAA Regional play.

Despite their top ranking in the polls, Oklahoma sits at No. 6 in the NCAA RPI. Arkansas leads the RPI, followed by Alabama.

Chasing History and Sustaining Excellence

Oklahoma's continued supremacy comes as no surprise to longtime observers. The program has been a powerhouse for over a decade, amassing multiple national championships under Gasso.

This year's squad has navigated injuries, tough road series, and the elevated level of play in the SEC with poise. Key victories against top-25 opponents throughout the season solidified their hold on the top spot.

Nebraska, riding a stellar Big Ten campaign, checks in at No. 2, showing impressive consistency and earning a first-place vote in some polls. Texas Tech holds strong at No. 3, representing the Big 12's continued relevance at the top.

The SEC boasts significant depth in the rankings, with Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee rounding out the top six.

As the NCAA Tournament approaches, all eyes remain on Gasso's squad. The Sooners will look to translate regular-season dominance into another deep postseason run.

With the SEC Tournament looming in Lexington, Kentucky, Oklahoma enters as the favorite but knows every opponent will bring their best, with no gimmies.

Oklahoma's blend of talent, coaching, and championship pedigree positions them as the clear frontrunner once again. Once again, it would appear that the Sooners have the tools to make another championship run. The journey continues, but for now, they remain the undisputed No. 1.
