Latest odds for the Oklahoma Sooners' matchups against UTEP and Michigan, as well as winning the SEC, making the College Football Playoff, and winning the CFP National Title

The odds are out for what the sportsbooks believe Oklahoma’s season will look like.

So far, we have odds for their first two games against UTEP and Michigan, as well as their win total, chances to win the SEC, how likely they are to make the College Football Playoff, and winning the national championship.

vs. UTEP (-40.5 via DraftKings Sportsbook)

40.5 is a massive number, and it would take a lot to cover. I would advise staying away from this line. Although UTEP is a bad football team and went 2-10 last season, if you recall, Oklahoma in their opener last year against Illinois State out of the FCS, only won that game 35-3. So history tells us that covering a spread over 40 in an opener might not be a good idea. Obviously Oklahoma is capable of covering this, but it is far from a guarantee as openers can be tricky with the team still finding themselves.

at Michigan (+2.5 via FanDuel Sportsbook)

The Sooners defeated Michigan last year 24-13, and all indications are that they have an even better roster than they did a season ago, while Michigan is in the process of rebuilding under new head coach Kyle Whittingham. Playing in the Big House will be a tough environment, however the crowd might not have a huge impact with it being an early 11am CT kickoff. If the Sooners play to their capabilities, they should win this game and obviously cover.

Win Total (O/U 7.5 via via BetMGM)

Oklahoma’s ceiling is between 10-11 wins if everything goes right. If everything goes wrong and they struggle to stay healthy, then they could fall below the 7.5 total. Should John Mateer look like the version we saw last season prior to injury, while the offensive line shows improvement, then the Sooners should easily hit the 7.5 total.

SEC Conference Winner (+1100 via FanDuel Sportsbook)

Oklahoma looks like one of the most complete teams in the SEC. Mateer has the tools with Isaiah Sategna III, Trell Harris, Parker Livingstone, among others. The Sooners should be able to hang with anyone in the SEC, including Texas and Georgia. However, the schedule is so tough that they will likely take some lumps along the way because of how close the talent-level is amongst the top of the SEC. This isn’t a bad long shot bet if you want to throw a few dollars down, but they probably aren’t going to straight up win the league. However, don’t be surprised to see the Sooners in the SEC Championship Game.

Make the College Football Playoff (+230 via BetMGM)

Three games will determine the fate of the Sooners’ playoff hopes. If Oklahoma can go 2-1 in the matchups against Georgia, Texas, and Michigan, then the rest of the schedule is manageable and they would be on a crash course to make the College Football Playoff for the second-straight year. A healthy Oklahoma team is a good bet to make the playoff, but they can’t afford too many injuries with a lack of depth.

National Championship Winner (+2700 via FanDuel Sportsbook)

If John Mateer plays at a Heisman level, then Oklahoma has a realistic chance to win the national championship. He will need the offensive line to hold its own and keep him protected. Oklahoma is expected to have one of the best defenses in the country again, and that’s what you’re looking for in a championship team. The Sooners can win the national title if everything goes right, but they find themselves talent-wise in the same position as several teams, and will need to find a way to separate themselves from others. This isn’t a bad bet to throw around a few bucks on, but I wouldn’t recommend making a major investment on this one.
