After a lackluster season, this is the last news that Oregon Basketball wanted to start the offseason.

This year, simply put, the University of Oregon Basketball team was atrocious. They went a measly 12-20, which amounted to fewer wins than the football team amassed in less than half the total games played, joining a list of some of the most unremarkable schools in the nation to do so with their football programs.

That wasn't all. Out of 18 teams in the Big 10, Oregon finished in the bottom four of nearly every statistical category.

This was a failure at nearly every level, which is so surprising given the team's leadership. Under Dana Altman, the team has never finished under 20 wins until this season.

While you clearly have to take a look in the mirror this offseason, they did make it to the offseason. They can sit down, analyze what went wrong, and formulate an offseason game plan to get the program back on its feet.

Essentially, right as the offseason began, however, the Ducks were hit with some news that has instantly gotten the offseason off to a poor start.

Ducks F Kwame Evans Jr. Plans to Enter Transfer Portal

It was announced today by his agent, James Dunleavy, that Ducks forward Kwame Evans Jr would be entering the transfer portal prior to the 2026-27 season. A terrible way for the program to kick off the offseason.

Last season for the Ducks, Evans Jr averaged 13.3 PPG (3rd on team) and 7.4 RPG (lead team), while also recording 1 SPG (2nd on team) and 1.3 BPG (2nd on the team). Despite the overall performance of the team, he was one of the best players they had to offer.

The 6'10 junior was a former 5-star recruit to Eugene out of Baltimore, Maryland, and will now be looking for a new place to call home as he's expected to be one of the top players in the transfer portal.

In this modern era, players transfer left and right, but if you're the University of Oregon, is this a sign of the beginning of the end? To have the type of season you just had, followed by losing one of your top players, is in no way ideal.

It'll be up to Dana Altman to right the ship this summer, because it feels like a slippery slope right now for Oregon Basketball.
