Oregon Ducks Land Massive Four-Star Playmaker in 2027 Class cover image

The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning made another huge splash in the 2027 recruiting class earlier this week.

While the Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning continue to prepare for the 2026 college football season, the program has been finding success on the recruitment trail.

Since the beginning of the new year, Oregon has managed to collect three different recruits in the 2027 cycle, including three-star tackles Drew Fielder and Avery Michael. This, however, was only the beginning of Lanning’s outstanding start in the upcoming class, as it was reported early this week that the Ducks have another member joining the group.

According to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett, the Ducks have managed to land a commitment from four-star running back Cadarius McMiller on Saturday afternoon.

McMiller’s College Recruitment Journey

McMiller is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the upcoming recruiting class. He is currently the No. 19-ranked rusher in the class, as well as a top-40 prospect in the state of Texas, per 247Sports’ Composite. And despite the hard push by multiple college programs in his hometown state, including SMU and Texas, Lanning was able to secure another highly-touted recruit for the future.

Throughout his first three seasons at Tyler High School, McMiller dominated, recording 218 carries for 1,644 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns. In addition to his success on the ground, the young playmaker was a lethal receiving threat during his junior season, tallying 11 receptions for 186 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

At 6-foot-1, 196 lbs., McMiller already possesses the ideal frame to be an elite running back at the college level. This, paired with his terrific athleticism, makes him a perfect do-it-all back for the Ducks in the future. McMiller, over his last two seasons with the Lions, had six games over 100 rushing yards, proving his ability to take a significant workload in college.

Looking at the rest of Oregon’s 2027 recruiting class, Lanning and the Ducks now have five commits in the cycle, including four-star EDGE Cameron Pritchett. Both McMiller and Pritchett are the lone four-star commits in the class, while McMiller now becomes the third offensive player to join Lanning’s bunch.
