Dan Lanning’s recruiting momentum surges as elite commits Will Mencl and Dakota Guerrant anchor a top-five class, signaling a powerhouse future for the Ducks in the Big Ten.
The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning's 2027 recruiting class has all the makings to be one of the best for the program in recent memory.
As of this month, the Ducks' upcoming recruiting class is a consensus top-five group in the 2027 cycle, while also being one of the best classes within the Big 10 Conference. The massive run by Lanning and his coaching staff has put the college football world on notice, thanks to a pair of highly-touted commits that continue to rise the ranks this offseason.
On Monday morning, Rivals officially released its newest addition of the Rivals300 Rankings for the 2027 recruiting class, with quarterback Will Mencl and wide receiver Dakota Guerrant being featured in the top 25.
Oregon's Future With Bright 2027 Class

Earlier this summer, during the Elite 11 Finals, the No. 1 quarterback and No. 14 prospect in the latest Rivals300 Rankings told reporters that he wanted Oregon to land some of the top prospects in the 2027 and 2028 classes, including fellow commit Dakota Guerrant.
"We want Dakota Guerrant, we want Xavier Sabb, we want Blake Wong, we want Bode Sparrow," Mencl said. "In the 2028 class, we really want Braylon Clark, just to name a few. I feel really good about Xavier Sabb, Dakota. We're pushing."
Mencl and the Ducks' efforts proved to be helpful, as Guerrant would eventually commit to Oregon back in June. As the No. 3 wide receiver in the nation, the Michigan native has drawn comparisons to Tampa Bay Buccaneers second-year wideout, Emeka Egbuka, which is a promising sign for the program.
In addition to the Ducks' top two commits in Mencl and Guerrant, the program's 2027 class also contains two top-50 prospects in four-stars Xavier Sabb and Rashad Streets. Sabb is a top-five wide receiver in the nation, which gives Oregon an electric pass-catching duo for the future, while Streets also landed in the top five for his position group.
