With a new era clearly on the horizon, should the Ducks look to pivot to one of the best head coaches in the sport?

The University of Oregon Mens Basketball team was bad last year. Not just bad, but arguably atrocious. They finished 12-20, which is not just the worst record in the Dana Altman-era, but the worst record since the 2008-2009 season, where they finished 8-23.

The in-season product was bad enough, but just a couple of weeks into the offseason, things are already going from bad to worse in Eugene. It was announced on Monday that forward Kwame Evans Jr would be entering the transfer portal, and on Tuesday, point guard Jackson Shelstad announced that he's doing the same.

It was clear that the Ducks had some holes to plug up this offseason already, but after losing two of their best players and arguably stars in as many days, it has many ringing alarm bells in Eugene.

It was reported in season that the Ducks are committed to head coach Dana Altman through their poor season last year. With this latest news, though, it has many wondering if a rebuild is on the horizon for the program as a whole.

With two of the top players not even being committed to Altman, should the university continue to be? If not, they could take a chance at pursuing not just one of the top coaches in the sport, but a University of Oregon alum to boot.

Should the Ducks Target Gonzaga Head Coach Mark Few?

If the Ducks were to pivot and try to rebuild their program under a new coach, there aren't many better than Gonzaga University's HC Mark Few.

Mark Few has been the head coach of the Gonzaga Bulldogs since 1999, and since then, has done nothing but raise them through the ranks of college basketball. In his time with the Zags he's accumulated nine 30-win seasons, eight Sweet Sixteens, two elite eights, and two National Championship appearances.

Although he's had massive success, Few has never been able to win it all despite having some fantastic teams capable of doing so. Could Gonzaga possibly look to shake things up by bringing in someone new? If this did happen, Oregon should throw everything it could at Few.

Despite his strong ties to Gonzaga, Few is actually a University of Oregon graduate. Could we see the legendary college coach try to rebuild the Ducks basketball program? It's unlikely, but only time will tell.
