We all knew going into this weekend that it was going to be a critical one for the future of the Penn State program.
The Nittany Lions were hosting nine 2027 recruits, six of whom were four-star guys. The players are from all over the board. There were wide receivers, linebackers, defensive linemen, offensive line and much more.
It was an important weekend, and it seems like the Nittany Lions paid it off, big time.
On Sunday, the day that the recruits left town, one of the main targets, Khalil Taylor, made a major decision for his future. He made the decision to cancel his official visits to Nebraska and Alabama.
This is the recruiting version of "don't let them leave the building."
Taylor is a four-star recruit with a 91 rating according to 247Sports. He is the 104th-ranked recruit, the 14th-ranked wide receiver, and the No. 6-ranked player in Pennsylvania.
After this weekend, it is reported that he is a 100 percent commit to Penn State, according to 247Sports' Tom Loy. The only thing that is left is the official commitment from Taylor himself.
Taylor will be the biggest get in the 2027 class so far for Matt Campbell. He has put his foot on the gas pedal for the Nittany Lions on this recruiting trail since taking over, and it's commits like this that should make Penn State fans excited.
Taylor is a wide receiver who is everything that the Nittany Lions have been lacking, and fans have been craving for the entirety of the James Franklin era. Year after year, Penn State was playing with one arm tied behind its back, thanks to the fact that it lacked at the skill position.
Taylor changes that in a big way.
He is a track star type of receiver who was clocked with an 11.05 100-meter dash and has been a state qualifier ever since his freshman year. On the football field, he sacrifices nothing.
Last year, he had 51 catches for 932 yards and 22 touchdowns. He added two more scores via kickoff returns and one more pick-six. From all reports, he is electric with the football in his hands.
As the recruiting class continues to grow throughout the year, he is going to be one of the focal points of it, regardless of who else is added to it.
All signs point to Taylor being a Nittany Lion; the only thing that remains is his official announcement, hopefully sometime very soon.
