The victory marked her sixth singles win in dual play this season and another important contribution for the Mustangs’ lineup depth.

Syracuse fought back with a singles victory to keep the match competitive, but Sophie Llewellyn answered for SMU.

The Mustangs standout handled business on court two, defeating Serafima Shastova 6-4, 6-3 to move SMU within one point of clinching the match. The win gave Llewellyn eight singles victories this spring, tying for the team lead.

With the match hanging in the balance, Caroline McGinley stepped forward once again.

McGinley battled through a tight contest on court three before closing out Nelly Knezkova 6-4, 7-5, securing the decisive point and sealing the 4-2 SMU victory.

It marked the second straight match McGinley has clinched for the Mustangs, highlighting her growing reputation as a clutch performer.

The day completed a flawless performance for McGinley, who finished 2-0 on Sunday and 4-0 across SMU’s two matches this week.

Her consistency has been remarkable, as she now holds an impressive 21-2 record in singles and doubles combined during dual match play.
