There will be no discipline for Rashee Rice following a domestic violence investigation by the NFL.
Rashee Rice starred at SMU before joining the Kansas City Chiefs and carrying much of the receiving explosiveness he showed in college into the NFL with one of the best quarterbacks in the world in Patrick Mahomes finding him downfield.
While Rice has emerged as a rising star, he's unfortunately ran into controversy off the field.
The latest update on Rice's recent run in with the law, however, appears to clean his sheet going into a pivotal Chiefs offseason program.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the NFL concluded its investigation into Rice's involvement in an alleged domestic violence dispute with his former girlfriend and mother to his child, Dacoda Jones.
The league determined that Rice "has not engaged in conduct that violates the personal conduct policy," and that the investigation into the accusations is "now closed."
Rice will not face any discipline at this time.
"Mr. Rice wants to thank the NFL for their thorough investigation, and looks forward to the start of the 2026-27 NFL season," said Rice's attorney Sean Lindsey.
The league initiated its investigation in January, but Rice was also sued in civil court by the victim in February. Depending on the result of that situation, the NFL could re-ignite its investigation, but for now, the case has gone in favor of Rice.
This incident comes after Rice was suspended for the first six games of the 2025 season following a high-speed crash in Dallas two years ago, after which Rice fled the scene along with a former SMU teammate who was also involved in the incident in a separate vehicle.
Rice, 26, underwent a serious knee surgery at the end of the 2024 season, and after posting over 500 yards and five touchdowns in eight games in 2025, expects to return to stardom this season.
Following a standout career at SMU, Rice was a second-round draft pick in 2023 by Kansas City. He will enter the fourth and final season of his rookie contract with career totals of 156 receptions, 1,797 yards and 14 touchdowns in 28 games played (20 starts).
On the other hand, the Chiefs will likely be without their star quarterback Mahomes at the beginning of the 2026 season as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered in Week 15.
