SMU basketball signee Cameron Lomax led Frisco Heritage to a 34-2 record and the 5A Division I state title after averaging 25.9 points per game.

SMU basketball signee Cameron Lomax is heading to Dallas with momentum, confidence and a state championship on his resume.

After a standout senior season at Frisco Heritage, the four-star guard arrives as one of the most productive scorers in Texas high school basketball and a major addition for Andy Enfield’s rising SMU program.

Lomax played a huge role in Frisco Heritage’s historic 2025-26 season. The senior guard helped lead the Coyotes to a 34-2 record and the Class 5A Division I state championship, the first boys basketball title in school history and the first for Frisco ISD. His decision to return to Heritage for his final year turned into one of the biggest stories in the area and changed the ceiling for the entire team.

The SMU signee averaged 25.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.5 steals per game, stuffing the stat sheet while serving as the engine of Heritage’s title push. In the state championship game, Lomax delivered 17 points, six rebounds and four assists in a 60-47 win over Beaumont Westbrook. One round earlier, he produced the signature moment of the season by scoring 30 points and hitting a buzzer-beating floater to lift Heritage past Birdville 65-63 in the state semifinals.

That production is only part of the story. Lomax’s growth as a decision-maker and leader helped elevate a roster that also featured five-star Duke signee Bryson Howard. Heritage coach Jibran Kelley praised Lomax’s composure and feel for the game, describing him as a player who consistently makes winning plays and never seems rattled by the moment.

For SMU, that’s an encouraging sign. Lomax chose the Mustangs over Houston, Oklahoma State and other major programs, giving Enfield another talented piece as SMU builds off its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2017.

With scoring punch, defensive activity and a high basketball IQ, Lomax looks like the kind of guard who could make an impact early.
