SMU golfer Will Sides earned CSC Academic All-District honors after a monster senior season featuring a 3.79 GPA and three tournament wins.
DALLAS - SMU men’s golf standout Will Sides just added another line to a resume that already looks like one of the best in recent Mustang history.
Sides, a senior from Tulsa, Oklahoma, earned 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District recognition after delivering in the classroom and on the course.
That’s the kind of honor that doesn’t come from one hot weekend. It comes from stacking elite rounds, handling pressure and still taking care of business academically.
Sides finished his degree in accounting with a 3.79 GPA, a number that carries even more weight when paired with the season he just put together for SMU.
On the course, he was a problem for everyone.
Sides posted a 68.4 adjusted scoring average over 35 rounds and carded 28 rounds at par or better.
He won three tournaments, finished inside the top three four times, placed fourth at the ACC Championship and closed his postseason run with a 16th-place finish at the NCAA Regional Championship.
And the awards followed.
Sides earned his second All-ACC honor and fourth overall all-conference selection, joining Kelly Kraft as the only SMU men’s golfers to reach four all-conference honors. Kraft did it from 2008-11, which tells you how rare this company is.
Sides also became SMU’s 23rd men’s golf All-American and the program’s first since 2021.
For a player already known as one of the Mustangs’ most reliable scorers, that recognition put a national stamp on his senior season.
The CSC Academic All-District honor gives the story a sharper edge because it shows the full picture. Sides wasn’t just carrying SMU on leaderboards.
He was doing it while finishing a demanding accounting degree at an elite academic level.
That’s a serious finish to a serious college career.
For SMU golf, Sides leaves behind more than wins and numbers. He leaves behind a standard.
