SMU football will host Virginia Tech on Friday, Nov. 6, with ACC dates also set for Cal and Syracuse on the Mustangs’ schedule.

SMU football now has another key ACC date locked in, and this one comes with a Friday night spotlight at Ford Stadium.

The Mustangs will host Virginia Tech on Friday, Nov. 6, according to the ACC’s latest schedule release. Kickoff time and television details will be announced later, but the date gives SMU a standalone conference stage late in the season.

It’s another intriguing ACC home game for a program still building its identity in the league. Virginia Tech brings name recognition, tradition and a fan base that travels, making the matchup one of the more interesting dates on SMU’s home schedule.

The ACC also confirmed two other SMU game dates. The Mustangs will host Cal on Saturday, Oct. 24, then travel to Syracuse on Saturday, Oct. 31. Together, those three games create a critical stretch for SMU heading into November.

That run won’t be easy. Cal gives SMU another former Pac-12 opponent inside the new-look ACC, while the trip to Syracuse could test the Mustangs on the road before a short turnaround into the Virginia Tech matchup.

For SMU fans, the Friday night game against the Hokies should bring extra energy to Ford Stadium. Late-season conference games tend to carry bigger stakes, and a national TV window would only raise the profile if the Mustangs are in the ACC race.

Game times and broadcast assignments are still to come, so the full shape of SMU’s schedule isn’t complete yet. But the release gives fans three dates to circle now.

SMU hosts Cal on Oct. 24, visits Syracuse on Halloween and returns home six days later for Virginia Tech. That’s a defining ACC stretch — and one that could say plenty about where the Mustangs stand.
