SMU women’s tennis adds former Ole Miss transfer Brooklyn Olson as Kelcy McKenna keeps building momentum after an NCAA Tournament season.
SMU women’s tennis is staying aggressive after a breakout 2026 season, and the Mustangs just added another intriguing piece for the future. Brooklyn Olson, a former Ole Miss player and blue-chip recruit, has signed with SMU for the 2026-27 roster.
For head coach Kelcy McKenna, this is exactly the kind of move that keeps momentum rolling in Dallas. SMU went 16-8 overall in McKenna’s first season, finished 7-5 in ACC play and earned a trip to the NCAA Championships.
The Mustangs also beat Wichita State in the Norman Regional, proving they weren’t just happy to be there.
Now Olson enters the picture with SEC experience and plenty of match reps already on her résumé.
The Kansas City, Kansas native spent two seasons at Ole Miss, where she played both singles and doubles. Olson posted a 17-17 singles record with the Rebels and went 27-26 in doubles.
During her sophomore season, she primarily lined up at the No. 3 spot in both singles and doubles, giving SMU a player who has already handled pressure in the middle of a Power Four lineup.
Her current UTR sits at 9.86, which adds another layer of upside to the signing.
SMU’s rise last season wasn’t quiet either. The Mustangs climbed as high as No. 23 in the ITA rankings, the program’s best team ranking since 2011. That kind of jump changes expectations fast, and McKenna clearly isn’t waiting around to see if the momentum lasts.
Olson gives SMU another experienced option as the Mustangs try to strengthen their ACC profile and make another NCAA Tournament push.

She’s not arriving as a mystery prospect. She’s played in a major conference, logged winning doubles volume and understands what high-level college tennis demands.
For a program trying to turn one strong season into a sustained climb, this is a smart, sharp addition.
