SMU soccer midfielder Brooke Bunton has been named to the U.S. U-18 Women’s National Team camp in Florida, adding another major honor to her rising profile.

SMU soccer is sending another standout to the national stage, as midfielder Brooke Bunton has earned a spot with the U.S. U-18 Women’s National Team for its upcoming April training camp in West Palm Beach, Florida.

For the Mustangs, it’s another strong sign that the program continues to attract and develop talent capable of competing at one of the highest levels in the women’s game.

Bunton, a Green Cove Springs, Florida native, is one of 24 players selected for the U.S. U-18 Women’s National Team camp, which runs from April 10-17.

The roster includes a mix of college and youth club talent, with Bunton representing SMU among a national player pool loaded with top prospects born in 2008.

That alone is a notable achievement, but the camp arrives at an especially interesting time for the U.S. program.

The Americans are coming off a dominant March trip to Spain, where the U-18 squad rolled to a pair of lopsided wins, beating Sweden’s U-18 team 8-0 and Hungary’s U-19 side 6-0.

Those results gave the group real momentum heading into this domestic gathering, which will focus on training and scrimmages as the federation continues evaluating future talent.

For SMU, Bunton’s inclusion is a meaningful headline. National team call-ups always matter, and this one reinforces the idea that the Mustangs are building a roster with players capable of making noise beyond the college game.

Bunton’s selection also puts her in elite company, as the camp roster features players from programs such as North Carolina, Penn State, USC, TCU, Notre Dame and Virginia.

The bigger picture is encouraging for both player and program.

Bunton now gets another chance to impress U.S. Soccer coaches in a competitive environment, while SMU gains the kind of visibility that helps on the recruiting trail and inside the ACC.

For the Mustangs, Brooke Bunton’s latest opportunity is more than an individual honor. It’s another marker of where the program is headed.
