SMU women’s golf returns to Trinity Forest to host the Huntington Bank Collegiate, led by stars Mackenzie Lee, Emily Odwin and Celine Chen.
SMU women’s golf heads back to Trinity Forest Golf Club this week, looking to finish the regular season with momentum against one of the deepest fields it will see all spring.
The Mustangs host the Huntington Bank Collegiate in Dallas on April 6-7, and the event should provide a strong final measuring stick before postseason play begins.
SMU enters the tournament with plenty of proven firepower at the top of the lineup.
Mackenzie Lee continues to anchor the program’s record book, carrying a 71.64 career scoring average that ranks first in school history among players with at least 45 rounds.
Emily Odwin is right behind her at 72.34, while Celine Chen sits fourth all-time at 73.46. That trio has helped make this one of the steadier stretches in program history.
This season, Odwin has been especially sharp. Her 72.04 scoring average currently ranks fifth-best for a single season at SMU, while Lee’s 72.50 mark is ninth and Chen’s 72.60 sits 12th.
Those numbers are a big reason the Mustangs remain in the national conversation heading into the postseason. SMU is currently ranked No. 30 by Scoreboard after rising as high as No. 24 this year.
The Huntington Bank Collegiate field is loaded. SMU will tee it up against 15 other teams, including Arizona, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, UCLA, UCF, TCU and Texas Tech.
In all, 10 teams in the field sit inside the top 50, making this one of the stronger regular-season events on the schedule.
The Mustangs are coming off an eighth-place finish at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational, where Odwin placed 12th and Chen tied for 19th. Now they’ll try to sharpen their form at home before the NCAA push.
With Lee, Odwin and Chen leading the way, SMU women’s golf has the lineup to make noise this week in Dallas and carry that confidence into championship season.
