SMU football added a major piece to its 2027 recruiting class with four-star wide receiver Trey Haralson, a dynamic Texas playmaker from Tyler.

DALLAS - SMU football recruiting picked up more momentum over the weekend as the Mustangs added another notable name to their 2027 recruiting class.

Four-star wide receiver Trey Haralson, one of the top pass catchers in Texas, has pledged to SMU and gives the program another explosive skill player to build around for the future.

Haralson, a standout from Tyler, Texas, put together an impressive season last fall with 60 receptions for 952 yards and 12 touchdowns in Class 5A-I play.

Those numbers helped cement his status as one of the top young receivers in the state and made him a priority target for colleges looking to add speed, production and big-play ability on the outside.

Nationally, Haralson is regarded as one of the stronger prospects in the 2027 cycle.

He is rated No. 240 overall in the country in the composite rankings, checks in as the No. 31 wide receiver nationally, and is listed as the No. 4 wide receiver in Texas. For SMU, that’s the kind of in-state recruiting win that can keep paying off down the road.

The commitment also gives the Mustangs four players in the class so far, joining quarterback Malachi Zeigler, offensive tackle Qua Ford, and defensive lineman Amari Vickerson.

That early group already shows balance across key positions, and Haralson’s addition gives SMU another weapon with proven production.

For a program continuing to push its recruiting profile higher, landing a four-star receiver from Texas is the kind of move that stands out.

Haralson still has plenty of football ahead of him at the high school level, but SMU has already secured a player with the tools to become a major part of its future offense.
