Mackenzie Lee became the first SMU women’s golfer selected for the Arnold Palmer Cup after a record-smashing career on the Hilltop.

DALLAS - Mackenzie Lee has already built one of the greatest careers in SMU women’s golf history, and now she’s taking the Mustang name to one of college golf’s biggest international stages.

Lee was selected to represent the United States in the Arnold Palmer Cup, scheduled for July 3-5 at Tralee Golf Links in Ireland.

It’s a milestone moment for both Lee and SMU.

She becomes the first women’s golfer in program history to play in the Arnold Palmer Cup, the annual college golf showcase matching a United States team against an International squad.

Each side features 12 men and 12 women, making selection one of the sport’s top honors at the university level.

Lee joins rare SMU company.

Hank Kuehne played in the event in 1998 and 1999, while Bryson DeChambeau represented the Mustangs in 2015. Now Lee adds her name to that list after rewriting the SMU record book over four standout seasons.

The North Little Rock, Arkansas native owns 13 program records, including the lowest career scoring average at 71.51.

She also holds the two best single-season scoring averages in SMU history, posting 71.31 in 2024-25 and 71.32 in 2023-24.

Her birdie record may be the most eye-popping number. Lee has made 504 career birdies, blowing past the previous school record of 368.

She also has 88 rounds of par or better, nearly double the next-highest total, which belongs to teammate Emily Odwin with 48.

Lee’s low round of 62 at the 2023 Jim West Challenge remains the best score in Mustang history. This season, she added her first college victory at the Huntington Bank Collegiate.

Before heading to Ireland, Lee and SMU will chase more postseason success at the NCAA Waco Regional from May 11-13 at Ridgewood Country Club.
