That improvement showed all afternoon at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.
SMU grabbed control early by securing its 17th doubles point of the season. Ellie Mireles and Addison Comiskey delivered a key comeback win on court three, rallying for a 7-5 result.
Not long after, the nationally ranked duo of No. 21 Amelie Van Impe and Caroline McGinley sealed the point with a tight 7-6(6) victory on court one.
Stanford briefly pulled even in singles after a default on court three, but the Mustangs quickly answered with steady, high-level play across the lineup.
Van Impe gave SMU the lead for good with another statement win. The No. 59 Mustang beat No. 32 Monika Ekstrand 6-4, 7-6(3), giving her a second straight victory over a ranked opponent.
It was the kind of performance that could matter a lot once postseason play begins.
Comiskey kept the momentum rolling on court four. She beat Tianmei Wang 6-2, 7-6(3), extending her winning streak to seven matches.
The result was especially notable because it marked her first appearance on court four, and she handled it like a veteran.
Then came the clincher.
Freshman Ellie Mireles finished off Stanford’s Sein Myoung 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 to lock up the team win and earn the first match-clinching victory of her college career.
It was a fitting ending for a team that has shown more depth and resilience as the season has gone on.

Now the Mustangs turn their attention to the ACC Tournament in Cary, carrying real momentum into the postseason.
