Jennings added more records to his collection in the win over Missouri State.
SMU's 34-24 win over Missouri State at Gerald J. Ford Stadium was just what the doctor ordered for head coach Rhett Lashlee...and also quarterback Kevin Jennings.
The Mustangs' quarterback has been in a record-breaking mood of late, and he continued that against Missouri.
Finishing his day 33-of-39 for 464 yards, 3 TDs, and one interception while having a rushing touchdown as well, Jennings set a school record of 21 completions in a row, but also became the all-time leader in career completions (722) and passing yards (9,162).
But wait, there's more.
With Kevin's three passing touchdowns and his rushing touchdowns, he also became the all-time leader in total touchdowns (78), surpassing Tanner Mordecai's record of 76.
But what does Jennings think of the records broken?
"Got a lot more to be done, but it's a blessing just to have those accolades under my belt, to have the teammates around me just to help me get those accolades," Jennings said.
"It's amazing."
With Jennings breaking the total yards record a few weeks ago against UC Davis, and then adding the completions record and total touchdowns record to his now impressive resume, that is quite the collection.
But is he more proud of one record over the other?
"Not at all," Jennings added. "I feel like a record is a record. It all deserve the same love. I [don't] feel like one of them is above another."
Records weren't likely on Jennings' mind against Missouri State, as the Mustangs were slow out of the blocks and fell behind 10-0 in the first quarter before they clicked into gear.
A 14-0 second quarter, followed by a 20-point second half, was enough to secure the Mustangs a much-needed win for Lashlee's team.
So yes, the records for Jennings are great on a personal level, but SMU stacking wins as they aim to be playing in the business end of the season is the No. 1 priority, no doubt, for Jennings.
