SMU tennis star Trevor Svajda earned All-America honors again after finishing No. 4 nationally and posting a dominant 32-6 season.
DALLAS - Trevor Svajda just put SMU men’s tennis back in the national spotlight, and he did it with a season that was impossible to ignore.
The SMU junior earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-America honors after finishing No. 4 in the final ITA singles rankings.

That placement easily cleared the Top 20 standard for All-American status and gave Svajda his second national honor of the year.
This wasn’t some polite résumé boost. Svajda was one of the best players in college tennis from start to finish.
The California native finished the 2025-26 season with a 32-6 singles record, including 16 wins over ranked opponents.
His 32 victories rank fourth in SMU single-season history, putting him in rare company inside a program with a real tennis tradition.
Svajda first earned All-America recognition by reaching the Round of 16 at the NCAA Singles Championship in the fall.
Then he went even bigger, finishing as the national runner-up and becoming the first Mustang to reach the championship match since Richey Reneberg in 1986. He was also SMU’s first All-American since 2004.
The honors kept piling up from there. Svajda was named All-ACC First Team in singles, earned ACC Player of the Week three times, became a UTR Hurd Award finalist and reached No. 1 in the ITA singles rankings four different times.
He wasn’t just doing it alone, either. Svajda finished No. 56 in the final ITA doubles rankings with Jerry Barton, while SMU closed the year No. 29 as a team, its best final ranking since 2022.
Now comes another massive opportunity. Svajda has been selected for the American Collegiate Player Wild Card Playoff in Orlando from June 16-18.
The winner earns a US Open main draw wild card, while the finalist lands a qualifying wild card.
For SMU, this is bigger than a ranking. Trevor Svajda has turned into a national headline.
