Stanford adds another big-name recruit to their 2027 class, this time at a position that has become synonymous with the program

Stanford football's 2027 recruiting class keeps on growing. On Monday, June 1, three-star tight end Jude Chamberlain announced his commitment to Stanford, giving the Cardinal yet another big-name recruit for their 2027 class.

The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native stands at a towering 6-foot-5 and weighs 235 pounds, giving the Cardinal even more size and athleticism to an offensive position that has become synonymous with Stanford.

Choosing the Cardinal over offers from several other big-name programs such as Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, Texas Tech and Vanderbilt, among others, Chamberlain will join a tight end room that needs to reinvent itself after Sam Roush's departure. In 2026, that opportunity will belong to Benji Blackburn.

Taking an official visit to Stanford during the final weekend of May, Chamberlain had an idea he was going to commit before taking the visit. His time with the coaching staff as well as his relationship with some guys on the team made it an even easier choice.

"There were a lot of reasons why I committed to Stanford," Chamberlain said to On3 Sports. "One of the questions coaches would ask me all throughout my recruitment journey was, ‘what are you looking for in a school?'"

"I would always say three things: relationship, academics, and community. Stanford checked off all of those boxes for me," Chamberlain added. "Also Blaise Thomassie, my left tackle for the last two years, signed with Stanford (2026 class) and has been trying to get me to commit for months so I’m excited about my decision."

For Chamberlain, coming to Stanford is also the perfect opportunity for him to add his name to the long list of Tight End U stars. Known for consistently developing players at the position that go on to become NFL standouts, such as Zach Ertz, Dalton Schultz and Austin Hooper, Chamberlain is in the right spot to prove he has what it takes to reach that level of success at the college level and earn NFL consideration as well.

Chamberlain's commitment makes it the sixth player the Cardinal have signed to their 2027 class, joining Sione Kaho, Benjamin Lowther, Savoy Guidry, George Tyus and Clint Lundin. Fully focused on 2026, the Cardinal are coaching up the new pieces coming onto the roster in 2026, while recruiting the next wave as well.

Finishing 4–8 last season after going 3–9 each year from 2021–24, the Cardinal are in win-now mode and are eager to prove that they can return to national prominence. The Cardinal begin their season on Aug. 29 with a home game against Hawaii.
