With Ebuka Okorie heading to Detroit, Kyle Smith reloads with four-star freshman talent and experienced transfers as Stanford chases its first NCAA tournament berth in 12 years
In the midst of an eventful college basketball offseason, the Stanford Cardinal are keeping their heads down and focused on what will be another new-look roster this coming season after Ebuka Okorie was selected in the NBA Draft on Tuesday.
Having missed the NCAA tournament in each of the past 12 years, the Cardinal are ready to prove they have what it takes to compete for both an ACC title and a national title. Late last week, the Cardinal announced their final roster of players who will take the floor for the program in 2026-27.
Headlined by the additions of transfers Christian Bliss and Austin Maurer, the Cardinal will look very different from last season, as several players departed for the NBA, graduation, or the transfer portal.
Also joining the program to replace the lost production of the departing players are incoming freshman Julius Price, Drew Anderson, Elias Obenyah, Isaiah Rogers and Aziz Olajuwon.
This year's roster may be different, but the star power coming in cannot be overstated. Olajuwon, the son of NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon, as well as Rogers and Obenyah are all four-star talents and are expected to be day one contributors for the Cardinal.
With Okorie having turned in a historic season last year, all three have the potential to shine in a similar way.
Since head coach Kyle Smith took over the program ahead of the 2024-25 season, the Cardinal have shown flashes of promise, putting together 20-win seasons in his first two years while making postseason tournaments each year. The next step will be making it to the big tournament.
After guiding Washington State to its first NCAA tournament berth in over a decade while he was there, Smith has the same goal at Stanford and will not rest until he guides the program to where he knows they can go.
The schedule for 2026-27 is yet to be fully released, but the Cardinal will make sure that no matter who they play, they are ready to compete with the best players on the floor.
After finding major success with Okorie as the focal point, it would not be surprising to see another guard be the star player in the third season under Smith's tutelage, though he also found success in his first season running the offense through Maxime Raynaud.
Below is the full 2026-27 roster for Stanford basketball in numerical order.
