The Syracuse men's basketball program has long been a valuable stepping stone for players on their way to the professional level. Whether we're talking about Jim Boeheim's budding program of the 1980s to the Jim Boeheim program of the 2020s, as well as Adrian Autry's teams, Syracuse has done it's job to funnel players to the pro ranks.

On Thursday, yet another former Syracuse basketball player announced the continuation of their pro career.

Here's what you need to know:

Lucas Taylor, a 6-foot-5 guard, spent just one season playing for the Orange. Before spending his senior season (2024-25) in Syracuse, Taylor played two seasons at Wake Forest and one season at Georgia State.

During his senior season at Syracuse, Taylor posted six points and 2.4 assists per game. The North Carolina native played in 30 games, but it wasn't enough to send Syracuse to the NCAA Tournament. The Orange haven't been to the tournament since 2021. 

New head coach Gerry McNamara is looking to snap that drought this season. 

Taylor will be playing a professional team based in Finland known as Tapiolan Honka. 

For the second consecutive season, Taylor will showcase his talents overseas. During the 2025-26 season, Taylor played in Bosnia and Herzogovina as a member of the KK Radnicki Gorazde franchise. He averaged 12.0 ppg and 2.9 rebounds per game in 16 games.

Well, that seems unlikely barring a major breakout in Finland. Given that he's only 6-foot-5, Taylor will have to hone his outside shooting in order to earn another stateside chance. He averaged fewer than two 3-pointers per game with the Orange.

Former SU player Elijah Hughes, who recently played for 'Boeheim's Army' in the TBT, has found a new home overseas. The same is true for guard Nate Kingz, who was with the Orange last year. He'll play in Israel. 

-Gerry McNamara and his program continue to work on the recruiting trail. Syracuse has signed forward Jack Donahue, but missed out on landing this top tier recruit. 

-Orange football fans attending home games this season will have a chance to experience an improved game day atmosphere. New athletic director Bryan Blair and the University have announced changes for this fall. Find out those changes and if Orange fans will embrace the new traditions.
