Bryce Williams likes the relationship he has built with the Orange coaching staff.

Four-star cornerback Bryce Williams has decided to look at colleges outside of his native Florida.

He’s even looking as far away as Central New York.

Williams, from Western High School in Fort Lauderdale, told Rivals recently that Syracuse is one of his six finalists. He has 44 offers, mostly from Power Four schools, and whittled the list to Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Nebraska, Texas and the Orange.

“Those are the schools I like the most,” he told Rivals. “The coaches are cool, they’re recruiting me hard, and it’s really about relationships. They’ve gotten to know me, and they’re talking to my parents too. That’s important.”

Not on the list is Florida State, the program he decommitted from in December. He had committed on April 1, 2025.

Syracuse offered him last September. Just since his decommitment, he has picked up offers from schools that include Ohio State, LSU, Texas and Wisconsin.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Williams is ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 23 cornerback in the 2027 class.

Head coach Fran Brown and his staff have made recruiting in Florida a priority.

The Orange plucked seven players from Florida for their 2026 recruiting class, including Calvin Russell, a five-star wide receiver from Miami Northwestern High School. The 247Sports composite lists him as the No. 3 player at the position in the nation and the No. 31 player overall.

He is in the midst of planning trips to see the schools.

“I’m talking it over with my parents about visits in the spring,” he told Rivals. “I only have one date set so far, but I’ll add more. It would be great to see all the schools on my list and spend more time with the coaches so I can make the best decision.”

“I’ll make my decision off relationships, opportunity, and development,” he continued. “Getting to the next level is what’s most important.”

Williams appears to already have built a relationship with the Syracuse staff, including new nickels coach Marcus Walker.

“They’ve put a lot of effort into recruiting me,” Williams told Rivals of the Orange. “Multiple coaches come down to see me and recruit me hard. The relationships are strong. Coach Walker had a really good visit with me recently.”

Syracuse has eight commits in a 2027 class that is ranked No. 7 nationally by the 247Sports composite at this very early stage of the recruiting cycle.

Syracuse football lost two commits in the class last week.

Decommitting from the Orange were Davion Crumitie, a speedster from Tallahassee, Fla., and Stanley Montgomery, a defensive lineman from Philadelphia who took a recent visit to Penn State.
