The NBA's Western Conference Finals will conclude on Saturday night when the San Antonio Spurs take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7, with the winner taking on the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals.

Saturday's broadcast also marks the end of the broadcast season for NBC, which got back into the NBA media right's business this season after a significant absence. 

And while it's been fun to see and hear the NBA back on NBC, especially for fans of a certain age, not everyone is a fan of everything the network has done.

Take 'Awful Announcing,' which said NBC's coverage has generally been good, but took some ruthless shots at former Syracuse star Carmelo Anthony, calling him the "glaring weak link" in the NBC Showtime Studio show.

"Yet while Anthony has gotten sharper and more concise over the course of his debut season, it’s almost impossible to tell anything about Anthony’s point of view about basketball while watching him," is just one many quips about the show's issues.

It's unclear if NBC shares any of the concerns of the outlet and it's unclear if they'll make any changes in the offseason, or if they'll simply attempt to let the panel grow.

For what it's worth, Anthony was also on game coverage of the 2024 Summer Olympics for NBC, so his relationship with the network spans further back than just this season.

Now 42 years old, Anthony spent just one season at Syracuse, winning the title in 2002-03 by beating the Kansas Jayhawks in the NCAA title game. He started all 35 games that season, scoring 22.2 points per game and pulling down 10 rebounds.

One of the best pure scorers of his generation, Anthony also had an accomplished NBA career that spanned 19 seasons with the Denver Nuggets, Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets and Thunder. A 10-time All-Star, he was also a six-time All-NBA selection.

His son Kiyan is headed into his sophomore season at Syracuse and figures to be a key part of new head coach Gerry McNamara's rotation.

McNamara and Carmelo played together on that Syracuse championship team. McNamara was hired this March after the school fired previous head coach Adrian Autry. 

Just days after we learned that Syracuse men's soccer alum Miles Robinson is going to represent Team USA at this summer's World Cup, we learned that another alum is going to play for Team Canada.

As noted by Noah Nussbaum of the Daily Orange, midfielder Tajon Buchanan will play for Canada, marking his second selection for the World Cup team. He will become the first Syracuse alum to play in multiple World Cup's after also making the team in 2022.
