Maximilian Mang is headed north of the border to play in the Canadian Football League.

No Syracuse football players were selected in last weekend's NFL Draft, marking the third time in the last five years that that was the case.

However, after the draft ended, several SU players signed NFL contracts or agreed to participate in NFL rookie mini-camps. And one former Orange player got his chance north of the border in the Canadian Football League (CFL).

As noted by 3 Down Nation, former Syracuse tight end Maximilian Mang has signed on with the Hamilton Tiger Cats.

Mang was selected by the Tiger Cats in the 2025 Global Draft and has a deal now. A native of Germany, "Mang signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2025 through the NFL’s International Player Pathway (IPP) program. He also had a stint on the practice roster with the New York Giants."

About Mang at Syracuse

He spent five years with the Orange, playing in 61 total contests. As a tight end, he had nine receptions and 60 yards with one touchdown. He was part of the 2024 team that won 10 games and captured a victory in the Holiday Bowl.

Da'Metrius Weatherspoon - Buffalo Bills

Duce Chestnut - mini-camp with San Francisco 49ers

--The Syracuse men's basketball program solidified a non-conference matchup for the 2026-27 season with the University at Albany. Head coach Gerry McNamara obviously knows Albany's Dwayne Killings through his time at Siena. The Great Danes went 11-21 last season.

No date for the game has been announced yet, but it's fair to assume it will be one of the earliest non-conference games in November, or in the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas but before Atlantic Coast Conference play.

McNamara has indicated the program is also looking to play a game at Madison Square Garden. Our assumptions are that this would be against former SU player Donnie Freeman and St. John's, but that's not known for sure.
