Dylan Northcutt, the son of former NFL wide receiver Dennis Nortchutt, has committed to play football at Syracuse University, as per an announcement that he made on social media on Saturday.

A defensive back from California, Dylan Northcutt will join SU's Class of 2027, which continues to get bigger.

Nothing is officially official until signing day papers are completed. The early signing day in December and the official signing day is in February of 2027.

Dylan is listed at 6-foot-1. He recently took a visit to Kansas, but elected to commit to head coach Fran Brown. He's a three-star recruit, per 247 Sports.

A speedy wide receiver and return man, Dennis Northcutt spent 10 years in the NFL from 2000-09. He played most prominently with the Cleveland Browns, spending seven years there. He also played two with the Jacksonville Jaguars and one with the Detroit Lions.

As a receiver, he had 399 career receptions, including a career-best 62 in 2003. He also had 18 receiving touchdowns.

He had three punt return touchdowns, including two in 2002. That was the most in the NFL that season. He played his college football at Arizona.

Known as an excellent recruiter, Brown continues to build out his future rosters. However, there is still a season to play in front of us in 2026. The Orange went just 3-9 in 2025, but things should be better this season because of the better health of quarterback Steve Angeli.

The QB, who ruptured his Achilles last season, is expected to be healthy this year. If he's not for any reason, the Orange did a better job at creating depth in the QB room, which we discussed here.

--Two Syracuse men's soccer alums have now played two games in the 2026 Men's World Cup. Miles Robinson and Team USA are 2-0 and will be advancing to the elimination stage. Tajon Buchanan and Canada are 1-0-1 and will be seeking their own trip to the Round of 32 as well.

--Multiple former SU men's basketball players are already scheduled to represent the school in the "TBT" tournament this summer. On Monday afternoon, former Orange player Wes Johnson was announced as the newest addition to the roster. And he may be the most impactful yet. The "Boeheim's Army" alumni team will open play on July 21 against the Seton Hall alums. The winner of the three-game series will advance to the knockout round.
