Fran Brown had a busy weekend building the future Syracuse football roster.
Fran Brown and his staff had two 2027 prospects announce their commitments to the Syracuse Orange for the future and another de-commit from their decision all in one weekend.
Recruiting loss: Nnabuife to Alabama
As our own Brady Farkas covered last month, Syracuse football landed an "eye opening win" on the recruiting trail. On May 21, the Orange gained a verbal commitment from three-star prospect Michael Nnabuife, a tight end.
It took less than a month for Nnabuife to change his mind and commit to a new school, the Alabama Crimson Tide.
As our colleague Hannah Stephens covered for Alabama Roundtable, Nnabuife flipped to the Crimson Tide following his visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend.
The 6-foot-5 Nnabuife will join a loaded Alabama recruiting class featuring four and five-star players including Elijah Haven, Kenneth Simon II, Nigel Newkirk, and Trent Seaborn.
Recruiting Wins: Nico Ramos and Braylon Otis
Offensive lineman Nico Ramos took to social media to announce his intention to sign with Syracuse.
Ramos posted this message on X:
"THANK YOU GOD! I'm deeply humbled and blessed to announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Syracuse University! Let's go to Work!!"
The 6-foot-5 Ramos is considered a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports. This season Ramos will play his senior season at American Heritage High School in Plantation, Fla.
Ramos also held offers from Rutgers, Duke and Boston College.
Furthermore, Liverpool (N.Y.) edge rusher Braylon Otis flipped his commitment from Boston College to Syracuse. As we've noted, it's important to keep local talent at home, and Brown was able to do that here.
Earlier in the week, Syracuse gains two commits
Before Ramos and Nnabuife made their respective decisions this weekend, two other players made their future decisions involving Syracuse.
In a span of less than five hours this past Thursday, the Orange gained commitments from Edan Richardson and Chanin Harris.
Richardson, a Florida high school offensive lineman prospect like Ramos above, is 6-foot-4 and held offers from Boston College, Central Florida and and Coastal Carolina.
Harris is a wide receiver hailing from South Carolina.
The 6-foot-1 wideout also held offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.
What does the Class of 2027 look like now?
After the changes involving Nnabuife and Ramos, The Orange have now landed 16 players so far in the class of 2027.
Next targets?
The Orange are still zeroing on some Northeast recruits to add to the recruiting class. Those players include New Jersey defensive lineman Javon Lane along with the No. 1 prospect in New York State according to 247 Sports, running back Elijah Kimble.
