Fran Brown's team continues to add to its roster for the 2026 campaign.

Brady Farkas on the most recent Syracuse additions out of the transfer portal.

The Syracuse University football team added another pair of transfers from the portal late on Wednesday night, securing the commitments of running back Ahmad Miller and defensive lineman Jartavius Flounoy.

This brings SU's additions in the portal to five, as they had already added running back Ju'Juan Johnson (LSU), wide receiver Cole Weaver (Miami of Ohio) and tight end Michael Smith (South Carolina).

About Miller

Listed at 6'0, Miller just finished his third season at Jackson State. A Memphis, Tenn. native, he was an All-SWAC selection after carrying the ball 165 times for 1,054 yards in 2025. He had six rushing touchdowns while also adding five catches out of the backfield.

Though he's appeared in games for three seasons, a season-ending injury in 2024 earned him a medical redshirt. Thus, he still has two years of eligibility left for the Orange.

While looking at past statistics and roles is not necessarily indicative of how players will perform at Syracuse, it appears as if Miller is more of a traditional running back, while Johnson is more of a versatile receiving threat.

About Flounoy

He just wrapped up his freshman season at Georgia State, where he appeared in 11 games. A Georgia native, he had 22 tackles and six tackles for loss. He led his team in sacks with three, which is hard to do from a defensive tackle position. He's listed at 6'1 and 325 pounds.

He should be a fun chess piece for new defensive coordinator Vince Kehres to deploy in 2026.

About the Orange right now

Syracuse went 3-9 in 2025, losing eight straight games to end the campaign in the wake of quarterback Steve Angeli's season-ending Achilles injury. With Angeli back in the fold for 2026, there is optimism for Fran Brown's team, though SU has 30 players of its own currently in the portal.

As is the case with every team in the country, we have to wait until the portal is done to see how the roster shakes out in comparison to 2025, but Angeli's health should go a long way toward making the team competitive again.
